Head of System Architecture - Automation Engineering

TGW Logistics Group as an international, fast-growing company is one of the global players in the intralogistics industry. In this capacity, you will make a significant contribution to the continuous advancement of our systems. Your responsibilities will include making sure that the customer's requirements are met in an effective, professional and economical way. You will support and coordinate the continuous enhancement of the operational and strategic concepts of our controls engineering experts. In this position, you will significantly influence the future product portfolio of our in-house controls software and cooperate closely with related departments like product management and product development.



  • Development, maintenance and enhancement of the architecture of our in-house controls software during its entire life cycle

  • Definition and structure of new software systems in close coordination with the responsible development departments, taking into consideration the requirements of the market, TGW's lead customers and branches

  • Assessment and analysis of different solutions as well as evaluation of current and future technologies

  • Product development support until the products are ready to be put on the market as well as market launch in line with international standards

  • Hardware architecture development support in consideration of functional safety

  • Business year planning including resource planning, task assignment as well as selection and development of employees



  • Completed technical education (Higher Technical College and/or university degree) with focus on electrical engineering, mechatronics, IT or similar

  • Very good command of German and English

  • Profound knowledge of automation engineering (focus on software) as well as project management

  • At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably with Siemens SIMATIC hardware and software

  • Network technology and bus system knowledge will be an advantage

  • Excellent analytical skills, planning skills, team spirit and social competence

  • Willingness to travel (20–30% of working time)

Wir bieten


The minimum annual gross pay for this position is 52,852 Euros according to the collective agreement. A possible overpay depends on your individual job experience and qualification.
